The end of The Melon -finally

Finally I have a FO to show!! Now that see it on the pictures I realise the blocking could have been better though :-) Guess I need something with straight lines or squares on to put underneath.
I ended out pretty big. 70 by 200 cm. Partly because I like to block it as much as possible without breaking it.

More pictures to come.

SSS synopsis and a little Melon

The Spring Shawl Surprice group is still growing and there are now close to 800 members. I am very excited and honoured about so many joining.

I am trying to get as many nationalities as possible to join the group. It's all part of the theme but you will not know why until the of the knit-along when the theme and name of the shawl is revealed.

If you would like to translate the pattern and notes into another language it would be wonderful. Just send me a mail : lul1971 at yahoo dot com

Des modèles et les notes seront traduits en Français.

Muster und Anmerkungen werden ins Deutsche übersetzt.

After a long break I continued on the Melon border last night while at a 95 yo birthday. Someone in the Victorain Lace Today group had finished hers and that made me want to finish mine too.

The Melon -a little bit of progress

Still a long way to go. I mainly knit at work and this is my evidence that I don't have enough breaks.

Today " The secret of Chrysopolis" started. I am still tempted. The pattern looks really nice. But....

Growing melon -after all

Okey, mayby I am not being fair to myself for being fed up with Melon and thinking it goes on forever. It's just 10 days ago I started knitting it. And it does grow as theese pictures show. Good to see for myself.
I measured it to 130 cm long so it will end up being close to 2 meters.

Melons melons melons

I wonder if it is my craving for watermelon that has subconsciously made me knit The Melon or if it the other way around!?

The Melon indeed it is

Yep, Kat was right- It's The Melon Shawl from Victorian Lace Today. The pattern is extremely easy to memorize, but I have to keep en eye out for mistakes which seem to pop up more often in easier patterns!?
I have decided that this shawl has second priority as soon as I get the yarn for Anne's Garden Stole (which I am busy designing too).

I really like the pattern and it is much easier than it looks like.

New project

Well, the yarn and needles for Anne's Garden Stole hasn't arrived yet so I had to find something else to do in the meantime (don't mention UFOs). I started out with a babyhat, but no. I then tried a pair of baby socks. Nooo no, just didn't feel right. I then dived into my stash and rediscovered the mohair/silk yarn Jennie gave me in the final SP parcel (isn't it just great to have so much yarn that you are able to do that). I did some swatching and came up with a simple pattern for a scarf (I prefer simple lace patterns or no pattern at all for variegated yarn) but the only 6mm circular neddles I have are blessed with a wire as stiff as unboiled spagetti, so in the end, for the sake of my arms, I gave up.
In a split second, I didn't even notice it happen, I was knitting......yes, what am I knitting, can you tell?
