Check up on your gauge!!

I tried to be a little more relaxed when knitting the second sleeve. My gauge turned out a little relaxed too. Sigh! The second sleeve is app 3½ cm longer than the first sleeve.
I decided to make the I-cord at the wrists and then try to block the hell out of it (excuse my language).

So far they look just about equal in size. Actually the small one (at the bottom) looks bigger than the big one! I hope it works so I don't have to make a third sleeve!!!

A bit of Mermaid

I am finally able to show some progress on the Mermaid, though my arm is not that happy about it. However, I almost have made half of it. Ta daa...

Mermaid sleeve

The very first bit of a mermiad sleeve. Not much, but this is what my arm was able to handle -in two weeks! Sigh!

Mermaid I-cord bind off

I read through the Hanne Falkenberg Knitalong and decided to do the provisional cast-on in stead of picking up stictches from an I-cord as suggested and then make an I-cord bind off in the end.

Today I sat down to practice -and it works!!

Not only is it easier to make than a single I-cord, the edge will look the same from both sides and you will not get problems with the I-cord being too tight.

The end of mermaid front/back peice

I finished the Mermaid front/back-piece yesterday. However, did too much knitting the past couple of day and ended up with a migraine. So have to take a break from knitting :-( I still have to weave in all the ends and do the I-cord (and so far I have no ideas how the making of the i-cord works out)

Mermaid.....

The little mermaid

Far out at sea the water´s as blue as the petals of the loveliest cornflower, and as clear as the purest glass; but it´s very deep, deeper than any anchor can reach. Many church steeples would have to be piled up one above the other to reach from the bottom of the sea to the surface. Right down there live the sea people.

More Mermaid (and something new)

The left front is done and I am now working my way on the back.

A gusset in the armpit
The edging still looks nice

No, I am not getting bored with the Mermaid but can't help thinking about what to do next. For a while I have been thinking about a baby blanket for the latest member of the family. But!!!
Crochet? or lace knitting?

The mermaid

The mermaid lives deep under the sea
You don't know where she hides
An underwater kingdon, maybe
On a seahorse she rides

Mermaid -"The beginning"

At a point I almost gave up on the colours for the Mermaid, but I think it will end up okay. I have done 45 rows so fra. Heaven knows how many I have left!!

My new camera (less than 18 hours between the ordering and receiving it -amazing) does much better in reproducing the colours. Here are a few shots.

Lace square

I have FINALLY finished the lace square! I must admit I was very fed up with it. I kept on making mistakes. It hasn't scared me off doing lace knitting though. But the patterns on the sides I will never do again!

I have ordered an new digital camera today: Canon Supershot A710IS

I will be nice with good quality images again.
And! My mermaid yarn has arrived. I am still in doubt as to which colours to choose. Some of them are much more similar than expected and I fear they will not show up in the stribes. So maybe I'll choose the dark one after all.
