Optimism is great -I guess. But I think I have overdone it this time. Okey, crochet is more yarn consuming than knitting, but I am not quite sure how I ever maneged to think 100 g would be enough for a baby blanket!!! I have used halft of it and the blanket is...wow... 18 cm!!
So I have spend the day trying to figure out how to rescue the blanket. I could order more yarn I guess, but that would be too easy. Besides, I have lots of left overs from Mermaid but even if including that the blanket is going to be tiny. I will probably have to frog the whole thing. Thougth about making granny squares instead, but that really isn't very good for a baby blanket is it?
I guess the best thing would be to knit the blanket....but I WANT to crochet.
I will probably end up with no blanket at all!!!
Anyone who has a pattern for a baby hat?

How about something modular? ala log cabing feel. Different stitch patterns for each different colour. Hey you could even combine knitting and crochet ... well you've got 900 stitches to choose from!
The library wanted me to return the book with the 900 stitches :-( Too bad, but I have reserved it again -and put it on my wishlist.
The problem with using different stitches is the varrying number of stitches you have to cast on. It's a bit difficult to make it equal. I guess I could just make a few ekstra plain stitches to make it match....hmmm....
That's where the modular part comes in ... you cast off each section and then pick up stitches from the side, so you can change to a slightly different yarn thickness and pattern repeat over a different n/o stitches. For example it could turn out something like this http://www.woollythoughts.com/creation.html with each square having a different stitch pattern.
Hey, that was a nice link :-) I spend quite a long time in there. The four dogs chasing each other I have seen before. I like the symmetry most of the afghans have.
I'm afraid that if I just start knitting in one end it will turn out very asymmetric which I really don't like. But I like the idea. Actually, I guess it doesn't have to end up being asymmetric at all if I did like you say and just make sure each panel have the same width. But if I pick up less stitches using the same yarn then the next part will narrow down -unless the pattern itself causes widening.
Hmmm...it would need a bit of planning.
I think I might just go for small granny squares. Boringly simple, but not very yarn consuming.
